This watch has some neat features. They're useful in general and they're very nice for triathlons and triathlon training. Here's what I like best about it.
The velcro strap makes it much easier than a conventional strap to put on and take off quickly.
The very large numbers are easy to see at a glance without glasses and underwater.
The "Lap" feature makes it easy to check whether you're on pace during a run: just push the lap button when you pass a mile marker and read out the time since the last push, a mile back.
The watch adds a "Run" feature to the conventional pair of "Lap" and "Split" features. This lets you see what portion of a workout has been spent on recovery, for example, or how what part of the duration of a car trip was actual driving time.
The multiple interval timers are useful for interval training if you want to have different durations for effort and recovery intervals.
The watch is a little larger than the other Ironman watches, including another one that I have that's a little dressier. Some reviews I've seen say it's too large. I think it's a matter of what you get used to. I like it, and I have a smaller than average wrist.
Lest we forget, the watch has the conventional functions of keeping time and sounding alarms.

Timex Watch Vecro Band - Billc Youngquist - Ankeny, Iowa.
I have owned many watches in the 35 to 65 Dollar Range with all types of bands. Im very hard on watches do to Im an Auto Mechanic. I also swim allot and fish allot wich exposes watches to uv rays. Rubber watch bands end up cracking ,uv rays. Metal Bands get caught on about anything they end up breaking or the snap wears out. If you are hard on a Velcro band watch you will wear the paint off the watch face first. The reason they are hard to start is its a safety catch as a last resort in case you undo the velcro . The worst thing for a velcro band is taking it on and off.
Needs longer Strap! - GuzziRdr - Bellevue, WA USA
Have had a couple of Timex watches before and since I work in a grocery store, I usually buy fairly inexpensive watches every couple of years that look nice, sporty and have a easy to read face, w/ day/date and alarm clock. Saw the Timex T5E261 and knew that would be my next watch. Arrived from shipper, NY to Sea. in about 7 days after ordering(pretty darn good). Took the watch out of package and looked it over. Loved the watch, but the velcro-strap itself has a bit to be desired. Most annoying thing is, that it takes quite a bit of effort to squeeze/pull the strap over my hand. If I take the strap(loop it through and velcro) all the way apart, it's a hassle to get it back through the loop. Band feels good though after wearing it for a couple of days though. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase till I have to take it off or put it on. Strap aggravation costs this 2 stars. BTW, I wear mens med. cadet golf gloves if that helps.
Timex Ironman Digital Watch (Flix System) - Stephen -
This watch has the potential to be an outstanding watch, at least for my purposes, with a large dial with day/date, chronometer, lap counter, alarms, elapsed time timer, lights with a flick of the wrist, etc. Good for jogging, timing various processes e.g. barbecuing, wake up alarms, event alarms and so on.
However, I only had this watch a little over a week when I went to switch from time to chronometer function to time cooking a steak, and all of the setting buttons became inoperable. The watch was "stuck" in the time mode, with, for some reason, the night illumination function on. Pushing any of the setting buttons in any sequence resulted in no change to the watch setting.
I had an identical Timex watch before I purchased this new one, and it "froze up" also, but after about 2 years of use, which enabled me to rationalize purchasing a new one.
Sooooo - Despite the fact that the potential utlity of this watch is outstanding for my requirements, if the potential can't be realized then the watch is useless. I will not buy another Timex of this model.
I am very pleased with Amazon. The return and refund process was relatively easy i.e. printing a return label off the site, boxing the watch and dropping it off at UPS for shipment back to Amazon. Then, shortly after receipt of the returned watch I received an e mail indicating they were providing a refund, and a couple of days later, a credit was made to the credit card I used to purchase the watch. Because of this process, I have continued to purchase via Amazon.
